- Using
Smart Metering to Cut Energy Costs
Tuesday, December 7, 2010 / 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Smart meters (also called interval meters) measure and communicate
electricity usage in near real time, showing how power is being
used in short (e.g., 15-minute) periods. By accessing and understanding
such data, facility managers, utilities, and contractors cut costs
by trimming peak demand, uncovering hidden waste, and employing
lower cost utility and market-based electric rates. Click

New ASHRAE Standard 189.1 for High Performance Green Buildings
Tuesday, December 7, 2010 / 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
ASHRAE recently released a new standard for the "Design of
High Performance, Green Buildings" (Standard 189.1-2009).
The Standard provides minimum requirements for a high-performance
green building, and was developed with the intent of balancing
environmental factors involved with the siting, design, construction,
and planning for the operation of buildings. This workshop provides
a detailed look at the standard, background on its development
and some discussion on how it might be used and adopted by various
